Description
Rare representation of the Buddha of the Wednesday night between midnight and dawn:
He is seated, his right hand palm open on his right knee as a sign of acceptance of the water offered by the King of Elephants. The Buddha has come to seek tranquility in the forest to escape the incessant disputes of the disciples. His left hand is turned as a sign of refusal of the offering of the monkey who offers him wild honey and alveoli of bees – inviting discernment and discipline.
