Description
With their overflowing imagination the potters of Accolay treat us to a large bestiary and ceramic characters. This charming crocodile is part of these creations, it is covered with a beautiful forest green enamel with dark shades.
The ceramic animal is signed on its belly. The crocodile is in good condition, tiny jump of enamel on the tail.
6cm wide, 15cm long.
In the middle of the 20th century, Accolay was the setting for a real revolution in ceramics. Four former students of Alexandre Kostanda settled in the small village in the Yonne in the mid-1940s, and many potters followed their example. For about forty years, the production of the potters of Accolay will be impressive, original and audacious.
